Counter Culture is a lifestyle brand and café heavily influenced by the lively and thriving surf city it resides in. As you walk into the café, you’ll quicklyrealize that we as brand love any craft that can be ridden – whether it is on two wheels or two fins. The café is a reflection of its founders lifestyle – Coffee | Food | Surf | Bikes | Apparel. The café space is designed for community, conversation & lifestyle.
The pride and glory of Counter Culture is its passionate approach to the specialty coffee industry. The cafe blend running through our La Mazocco Linea PB is a 50/50 blend of Tanzania and Brazil. Our friends at Bishops Coffee roast the blend uniquely for us, used in all our espresso-based drinks.
Rotating Single Origin beans can be found at the brew bar, which offers a variety of hand poured coffee such as V60 Pourover, Chemex, Siphon & Aeropress. Batch Brew Coffee is a recent menu addition and can be ordered as a bottomless if you find yourself working on the free WIFI in the café. If you’re after cold coffee, we provide that in the form of a Yama Drip Cold Brew, which is extracted for 36 hours.
Counter Culture offers deli style food with the fridge freshly stocked every morning with menu items that are ready for you to either grab and go or sit down and chow. Daily dishes consist of homemade granola & yoghurt from The Gourmet Greek, Chia Cups, Fresh Pressed Juices & Smoothies. Mid morning see’s a variety of sandwiches available, filled with whatever we have had delivered that morning as well as quinoa salads and barley bowls. Daily Pastries include Gosh Brownies, cookies & our famous banana bread. What you won’t find in the fridge is our Avo on Toast with Cream Cheese & Baby Corn Shoots & The Scrambled Egg on Rye.
Our food offering focuses on supporting local independent producers like ourselves. We take great pride in the fact that we share our kitchen with the likes of The Glenwood Bakery, The Gourmet Greek, Gosh Brownies, Richard Bosman Meats& Eat Your Home (a local company providing farm to fork vegetables & dairy).
